Windows 10: No Audio via HDMI after monitor wakes from sleep - AMD Radeon HD 7800

It's weird. I installed the program and I DO have an AMD card (AMD HD 7770) but the sound does not return...

 

At spyro. Did you double click on the amdaudiofix_x64 icon in the folder, I've got mine pinned in the start menu.

If a media player is open you should close it first before hitting the audiofix .

 

Same for youtube etc... any audio/video player in browser prevents fix from working. This is because windows wants to restart when disabling audio device while it in use. MrQ's fix does not handle this.

 

Hmmm, it seems to have fixed its' self a few days ago after a few windows updates, all else is the same nothing from amd was added.

None the less I'll keep MrQ's program just incase MS screws it up again.

It should, but maybe you have a different problem. Can you check the devices name in Device Manager?

Let me check my multimedia pc for the same. In a couple of days I'll be able to tell if it's really solved.

I'll make a new version which provides you the ability to specify the device name in a config file.

Can you provide the device name you see for the HDMI audio card? Could be a naming issue for the device.

 

To anyone else that decides to use the file be wary of likely trojan in 32bit executable..

Both uploads are detected to include a Malware and or Trojan.
Using multiple online virus file scans, many detect an issue with the file:

I submitted the Zip to my AV vendor suspecting the automated device disabling to be causing a false positive...
But then if thats the cause it should detect the same issue with the 64bit file.

Avira's Lab test has confirmed not a false positive and advised the file "amdaudiofix.exe" includes a Trojan:

I've been using the 64bit file "amdaudiofix_x64.exe" since it's clean and it does temporally fix the audio issue.

If you believe its still falsely detecting the application as a Trojan then you may need to submit it to the vendors yourself.
I've done what I can to clear a possible false positive.

As a computer technician, I tried many fixes and researched for a good 2 weeks before giving up and going back to Windows 7. I'm happy I did cause I no longer have this headache. Although my problem was somewhat different but the results were the same.
I use my 75 inch TV for my monitor and use hdmi coming from my Radeon 7890 graphics card. Whenever I turned my tv off the audio would go out. The only way to get it back was to uninstall and reinstall the driver or a reboot which has been mentioned several times in other forums. This is not a viable option for me so with no immediate fix I went back to Windows 7.
I really do want to start using and testing windows 10 but I find this issue just to annoying to have to deal with. Not to mention I can't play mp3 files either. I've seen another post where they had the same issue and thought it had to do with hdmi as well. When unplugged audio would come back. I know it has to be a Windows update where resolution will come but surprised it's taken this long to get resolved. With as popular as hdmi has become I'm shocked that more people aren't having this issue. Granted most have on board graphics/audio.
I may do a test later today and upgrade again to see if updates have resolved. Keep us posted though as I'm very curious if others issues start to disappear.

My TV is not 4k so that wouldn't apply. I did try several drivers too but Until Microsoft actually fixes the issue I'm not going to go buy fixes/hardware that doesn't nothing but try and work around the issue... The fix should be free considering it works perfectly fine under Windows 7. It's a software issue imo...

 

i thought you could use 1.4 version just for the ARC and i didnt quite got that "my tv is not 4k" cause it has nothing to do with it

Monitor goes to sleep and built in speakers have no sound when the monitor wakes.

I have 2 identical builds with the same problem. Had no issues with desktop speakers. Got a new monitor with built it speakers connected via display port. I can get sound from any other source upon waking except monitor. So I assume its either an issue with sound via display port or (hard to explain) communication with monitor and pc, like the monitor sleeps and shuts off speakers, when it wakes the pc still tries to put sound in those speakers but a new version of them is running? Because when I try to test my sound I get the your device is being used by another app. I dont even know if that can be a thing or if im explaining it clearly. Im at a loss and trying to think of everything.

The best way I've found to alleviate this is whenever my system wakes up I right click on my volume control in the bottom right corner and select "Playback Devices" once there I right click on my hdmi moniter and select "set as default device" although it is already set as the default device it somehow jump starts the audio and then I am able to hear again

 

Not sure why Avira thinks it contains an trojan.. It was compiled the same way as the x64 using the provided tools by AutoIT. Maybe it has to do with UPX-compression or something...


Of course, if you don't trust the executable, feel free to compile it on your own. The code is written in 'autoitscript' (.com) which is widely spread and known in the IT-world for automation...

It seems that some virusscanners see compiled autoit scripts as trojans for some reason, read more about it here:

The most virusscanners do not detect it, just a few that give false-positives...Not something I can change.
Of course you can decide to compile it yourself, although don't think that will help, or use the original AutoIT.exe and add the .au3 (source code) file as parameter to run it. Or use 64bit version which doesn't seem to have it for some reason..
