    Before you ask, yes, there is a PATH variable set for command prompt. Actually, there were multiple PATH variables for command prompt which I thought was the reason for it not working but the commands don't work in either Command Prompt or Powershell.

    The command prompt was never used until a python package needed to be installed through cmd. Then, it was found that not a single command works on command prompt or Powershell.

    It's a genuine copy of Windows 10 that came with the laptop.

    When I try to open notepad using the command prompt, the following line shows up:

    'notepad' is not recognized as an internal or external command,

    operable program or batch file.

    Please help me resolve it.
