Windows 10: No DVD Burner in win10

Hi. I missed the point that I cannot create video disks on my PC even if I do have third party software. I find it odd that I can copy (presumably that means burn) movies that I put together on my PC onto a DVD and play back in my PC but not on my dvd player. I will keep on looking for something that will fit the bill. Thank you

Hi. I have three different authoring software packages and can convert to many different formats but I have no idea what format my sony dvd recorder/player wants. Also, everyone tells me that I cannot burn video DVDs using win10 so I fall at the first fence.

 

A standalone DVD player will only play discs that meet the DVD-video spec. That means proper file system, and files/folders appearing on the burned DVD in a specific order. Transferring the authored files to a DVD-R using a burning program (or Windows' built-in IMAPI engine) configured to create DATA discs is not enough; it will produce the "cannot play this disc" error.

If you have a folder on your HDD containing the proper files/folders, try using IMGBURN, for instance, to create a DVD-Video disc. You must specifically choose this option in your burning program or the disc will fail to be recognized by a DVD video player appliance.

 

As Stated, DVD Video files must be in a specific format.
If you explore a DVD disc, it should have two files at the root of the disc. (ie) VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. The Audio file is always empty, don't ask me why. Inside the VIDEO_TS folder should be VOB files, if your video disc is not in this format, the disc will not play in a set top DVD player,. Why your computer will play media files and your DVD player won't is that Your computers media player allows different video files(ie) AVI, WMV, MPEG, MP4 etc. Your DVD player will usually not support these file types.

HI everyone. After trying several programmes without success, I have found a free converter/burner called Freemake video converter. I was able to drop a mov file into the programme which then built the video_TS and audio_TS folders for the vob files and burned them to a DVD-R disc which played quite happily in my Sony player/recorder.The only downside is that the free version inserts an advertising splash at the front of the clip. I don't care at this stage. Once I have tried the programme out in depth, I will probably upgrade to a paid version. Thanks for all your advice. I have learned quite a bit in the past few weeks.
