Windows 10: No Explorer after installing KB4565503

My laptop rebooted last night after installing KB4565503 and when I logged back in I had no windows explorer. The process was running but nothing appeared, no windows, no start menu, nothing. I had a mouse pointer and wallpaper. I managed to get into the settings but got an error when I tried to get into Windows Update...leaving me unable to remove it. I had to boot into Recovery shift + restart and remove it from there. Once I did, everything was back to normal. Now my system has downloaded KB4565503 again and is waiting for me to reboot to finalise installation and I can't do it because I have a Teams interview in the morning I can't mess up.

Has anyone else seen this with KB4565503?

• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

We suggest you to disable Internet Explorer from optional features and enable it again. To do so, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows + R on your keyboard, type optionalfeatures
  and hit OK.
• Uncheck the checkbox with Internet Explorer 11 written against the box and restart your computer.
• After restart, check the box in optionalfeatures and restart again. Then, launch IE.

windows xp installation and dual core am

could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

The tutorials provided are just a list of troubleshooting steps. Use only the steps which apply to you.

Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
