No internet connection after upgrade to Windows 10 Version 1703

I was running Windows 10 Version 1511 on two of my PC’s without any problems. However, when I upgraded both PC’s to the Windows 10 Creators Update Version 1703, I found I could no longer connect to the internet.

On the one PC, the following error message appears repeatedly: “The modem (or other connecting device) is already in use or is not configured properly”.

And on the other PC, this message also appears repeatedly : “After 1 minute automate to connect to the internet”.

What could be the problem? Has anyone on this Forum a solution? Online there are hundreds of posts with the same problem and I have tried everything suggested on the various forums but in vain.

    :)

  2. Can I use IE11 version 11.1593.14393.0 (windows 10 version 1607) on windows 10 version 1703

    Hello,

I've upgraded windows 10 from version 1607 to version 1703

After upgrade windows, Internet Explorer 11 also upgraded to new version 11.540.15063.0

And the scrollbar on our ERP software cannot work anymore. (Our ERP software is a asp.net website, only can be run on Internet Explorer)

I think new version of IE does not support our software.

    So, Can I use IE11 version 11.1593.14393.0 on windows 10 version 1703?

    Currently windows 10 version 1703 running IE11 version 11.540.15063.0

    Please help me.

    Windows 10 Versions

There are at least three versions of windows 10: 1607, 1703, 1709. One PC, upgraded from windows 7, uses version 1703 while a second, upgraded from windows 8.1, continues to use 1607 after failed attempts to upgrade to version 1703. What is the significance
of these different versions of windows 10?

As stated, Press the Win key+X and chooseDevice Manager, Here, are there any yellow flags? Especially under Network Adapters? If so, you will need to download drivers from the computer/motherboard manufacturer.
Also as stated, press Win key+X and choose Command Prompt (Admin) In the elevated Command Prompt type
Ipconfig /all> 0 & notepad 0 and press Enter. Copy the text in the notepad results and paste it in your next post.

Thanks for the prompt responses. No, there are no yellow flags in Device Manager but all the drivers must be fully updated as I had just upgraded to Version 1703 using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. Anything else I can try?

what kind of Network adapters do you have installed on your Win10 computer, MikeSA?

expand the Network adapters section of Device Manager and tell us what Network devices you have on your computer?

And also what kind of computer are you using?

try installing at least the August 2017 Cumulative Update - KB4034674 for Windows 10 v1703.

Thanks for the responses. Herewith are screenshots I have captured using the Snipping Tool. Besides the ZTE modem, I have also tried the D-Link 3G modem but still I cannot connect and troubleshooting cannot identify the problem. I have also connected an ethernet cable but, after awhile, it simply states "Unidentified Network".

Both my PC's are mid range dual core with Intel Pentium processors and should connect easily to the internet, so what possibly could be the problem?

With the cable plugged in it doesntget an ip it gets the default 169 ip which wont go anywhere. So it ether faulty cable , network card or router does the router port light to show connection

Thanks for your further response. It is unlikely that the two modems or the router and the ethernet cable are faulty as everything works fine on my Windows 8.1 PC.

Even, prior to upgrading from Windows 10 Version 1511 to Windows 10 Version 1703, I had no problems connecting to the internet with the same modems and the router.

In the circumstances, it appears logical to deem Version 1703 of the operating system buggy and the only alternative is to switch back to Version 1511, would you agree?

What is strange is that on the one PC, the router LED is green and status is reflected as connected. But when attempting to open a webpage, it states "You are not connected to the internet".

Have you rebooted the modem/router? By that I mean unplug it from the wall outlet for 5 mins. If that doesn't work, I would try resetting the modem/router......there's a tiny pin hole on the back of the modem/router. Use a paperclip and insert into hole and push and hold down the reset button until the modem/router goes off and comes back on then release the button.

Thanks. Yes I have rebooted and also reset both the modem and router but to no avail. Unfortunately, Microsoft no longer offers the version 1511 iso, so I cannot even revert back to version 1511. However, on eBay I have come across listings offering the Windows 10, version 1511 installation DVD's and my only alternative now is to get the DVD.

  14. In my first attempt to get my old Dell up to Windows 10 it would not connect to the internet at all and everything I tried did not work.
The Deviice Manager said everything was ok but I knew it wasn't I reverted back to Win 7 but after about 10 days attempted it again. This time I looked real close at the drivers Windows installed, Realtek, and found my card took Intel drivers. I uninstalled the RealTek drivers and forced in the proper Intel drivers for my WiFi card. All was happy after that and has been since.
Just something to consider with your problem.

    Hey MikeSA,
On one of your PCs (2nd set of screen shots / zte wireless terminal) the Default Gateway is 0.0.0.0 ... This is usually caused by Apple’s Bonjour service.

    Open Command Prompt as Admin
    route delete 0.0.0.0

Note: You may need to Disable then Re-enable the Device or Reboot.
