  1. No option to unzip/no extraction software Windows 10 Home?

I have two .rar files. When I right-click them, there's no options. When I double-click, it asks me how I'd like to open them but I don't have any suitable apps. I searched "default apps" in my settings and scrolled down to find ".zip" files, but it doesn't show up. I don't have WinZip or any software installed. I thought it was meant to come pre-installed? How should I extract files? Am I even supposed to extract .rar files lol? Thank you.

    :)

  2. unzip files in windows 10

I see multiple questions about unzipping files in windows 10 with the same exact response about opening the folder via 'windows icon +E' which I can use to open a folder but I get no option for unzipping other than I need to download Winzip. Is this functionality
not included in windows 10 as it has been previously? Please don't just post the same copy and paste response that didn't work for quite a few people based on comments from your site.
The steps below DO NOT WORK for windows 10. I've been using previous versions of windows for years and while this used to work it doesn't in your new version.

    • Locate the zipped folder that you want to unzip (extract) files or folders from.
    • Do one of the following:
      • To unzip a single file or folder, open the zipped folder, then drag the file or folder from the zipped folder to a new location.
      • To unzip all the contents of the zipped folder, press and hold (or right-click) the folder, select Extract All, and then follow the instructions.

No option to unzip/no extraction software Windows 10 Home?

can't unzip or extract files in Windows 10. There is no extract option

I put it in file explorer and saw the extract in the toolbar above, so I did it. Usually when you right-click a file there is an extraction option. Not so in Windows 10.
