Windows 10: no scroll wheel in mail

Understand first that I am talking about the mail program that comes built in to Windows 10. Understand also that there is nothing wrong with my mouse or with its operation in any other program. Finally, understand that my mouse can move the elevator bars in windows 10 to scroll the content of the screen just like you would expect it to.


The question is WHY CAN'T I CLICK ON THE BODY OF AN EMAIL TEXT AND SCROLL WITH THE SCROLL WHEEL just like I can with any other program? Why should I have to take my eyes off the text and use the elevator bar?


Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting I have missed. Please someone, tell me how to fix this.

windows 10 mail scrolling problem

Started several months ago, mouse scrolling wheel in mail is super sensitive. Slight wheel movement and mail scrolls to top or bottom of message. Scrolling wheel works fine in all other applications. Mail app is up to date.
