Windows 10: No sound after update.

i am running a system with

windows 10 home

Intel I7-3930k 3.2gh

msi Ms-7760

16 gb ram


after the recent update i had no sound. I found solutions all over the internet and i followed guides


1)i uninstalled my realtek drivers, restart, reinstall manually. I download my drivers from the official realtek page.

I had no question mark, on my drivers in the first place. I just had a red X in my bottom bar. Right clicking on the the sound icon and going into sounds i get a message (greek version of windows so i ll translate) "its not possible to have sound playback due to the sound service of windows is not activated. Do you want to activate the windows sound service now?"


then i press ok and there is no sound device on my list. It says "no sound devices are installed"




2) then i went Start->Settings->Control Panel->Adminstrative Tools->Services

Then i located in the list of services "Windows Audio". i opened this service


it was on automatic setting and i left it this way

i noticed that it was not running

i tried to start it running but i get a 0X80070005 error.


3) i also download the Microsoft bug fix from here.

but is doesn't work for me


so the problem is that my system cant see my sound device.

Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue

 

I got no sound microsoft or horrible sound

• What happens exactly when you try to play the sound?
• Are you getting any error message?
• Have you installed all the pending Windows updates?

• Go to “settings” and click on “update and security”.
• Under tab “Windows update”, click on the icon “check for updates”.
• Then once you find the pending updates install it and check.

Sound Quality


One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.
