No sound in Onenote for Windows 10 app.

There is no sound when I play back audio in the OneNote App for Windows 10.

When I record audio or dictate in the OneNote App for Windows 10, it seems to record properly, but there is no sound when I play back the audio recording. If I right-click the recording in the OneNote, click File, and then click "Open with", I can open the audio file in another app and it plays correctly. Therefore the audio is recorded properly and there's no problem with the system mic. However, when I try to play the recording from inside OneNote, I see the clock timer counting, which indicates the audio is playing, but I do not hear any sound. All other audio apps work fine on the computer. If I open the Windows Audio Mixer, all of the volume sliders are up all the way, including the volume slider for OneNote. Everything points to the problem being something wrong with the audio settings in OneNote, except there is no option in OneNote for Windows 10 to configure the audio - I do not see it in the UI anywhere. It used to appear on the Ribbon in previous versions of OneNote, but it no longer exists in the OneNote App for Windows 10.

    :)

Import OneNote 2010 into Windows 10 OneNote

Having moved to Office 2016, I had to first install Office 2010 to a virtual test machine to get screenshots. Here we go, this is the the process which you have to repeat for each notebook you want to open in Windows 10 built-in OneNote app.

1.) If your notebooks are already stored in OneDrive, jump to step 7. If they are stored locally, open OneNote 2010.

I created a simple Sample Notebook to show this process:

2.) Open the File menu, select Info > Share on Web or Network:

Note If you have enabled two-step authentication on your MS account, you need first create an app password and use it here instead of the MS account password.
