Windows 10: no sound on lap top

hi my computer says that I have no speakers or headphones plugged. I have done the usual but to no effect. I had this problem a few months ago and someone kindly sent me a fix. After the last recent windows 10 update this fix has gone can someone help

Method 1: Hardware Troubleshoot

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with Sound. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your Audio

Refer these steps:

  Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
  
• 
  Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
  
• 
  Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel
  
• 
  Run the playing Audio troubleshooter
  

Check if it helps.

Dell lap top problem

The Dell lap top starts up and then after a minute shuts off. It told me to go to this site "recoverykey.faq. what is my next step to correct this problem?

 

Missing sound when connecting my Lap Top to a TV with HDMI

I regularly connect my Lap Top to a TV with a HDMI cable. It has so far been working perfect for both picture and sound.

I now have a problem with the sound. The picture is still working OK but I now only get sound from the internal speakers in my Lap Top.

When opening Playback Devices I no longer see my Sony TV (Show disconnected and Disabled Devices enabled).

Any help in getting the sound back to my TV would be appreciated. Thanks.
