    NO SOUND

    Hey guys,

this is my first comment here. I checked the previous questions and found that my issue hit some other guys about a half a year earlier.

Weird. Don't we get the updates at the same time? (I joined the insider team, hoping to get some better treatment, but it is as bad as for a regular user. Actually, rather non-existent.)

Shortly: I got the MS update. Since then, all the sounds are cut off.

    1. I investigated the issue and found a few different procedures that were supposed to fix this, but none worked.

    2. Since I live in London, I went to the MS store. The girl searched on the net and read laud what to do. Obviously she could not solve it.

    3. I also called the "Support". The guy in Bangalore could not help me either. But he promised a call on Monday 16.09, when a L2 expert will try to fix my sounds.

    4. Meanwhile, I was not lazy and searched further. I started all the services. I updated all the drivers. I ran diagnostics. Still there is no sound.

    5. It seems to me that MS does not have the faintest idea what to do. All kind of shady sites offer solutions, but MS. My antivirus program does not let me deal with those sites.

    6. Then two solutions were about restarting Windows10 from square one. (I just did it due to my touchpad a month ago. My laptop being 5 months old only. There must be another solution than ruining the house to the basement and reconstructing it from the beginning.!)

    7. Again, another DIY project. I wonder why MS issues updates with such bugs. Why does not MS tests the updates? The insider program is to test the updates. Nobody had run into loosing the sounds?

    8. There are so many issues with Windows10. Why don't we have updates more often? Why do we have to wait for a program correction about half a year?

    9. Why do I have to spend my precious time with fixing MS's mistakes? Does not MS have experts?

Anyway, if anybody has the solution, please let me know. If the Bangalore guy is successful tomorrow, I will share the magic.

    Regards,

    Zoli

    :)

    Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue NO SOUND :p

    Sound Quality

One thing that sticks out from looking at your "My Computer" specs. You list "ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)" which suggests you do not have the correct sound hardware driver. Your motherboard has Realtek sound and the first step is to install the Realtek sound drivers. My ASUS also came with Sonic Studio 2 which is a sound enhancement package. Check the ASUS install disc to see if you have something similar.

May not be a speaker problem.

    Sound problem

    Hi,

We need to investigate further so that we can identify the cause of the issue. We suggest running the Troubleshooter and see if it helps. Follow the steps below:

    • Type and select Troubleshooting on the Search bar/Cortana.
    • Click Hardware and Sound.
    • Select Playing Audio under Sound.
    • Follow the steps that will be provided.
If the steps does not work. We suggest downloading a fresh copy of the audio driver from Realtek and see if it helps.

    Looking forward to your response.
