No splash screen at daily startup

    1. Taskbar is not flickering.
    2. None of those apps are present on my laptop.
    3. Have done this without it making the slightest difference.

At the moment the only solution that has helped is the one described above.

Another thing: the splash screen issue is still there.

For part 1 view the pop up task manager and indicate whether the pop up is or is not flickering:
If Task Manager doesn't flicker, an app is probably causing the problem.
If Task Manager does flicker, a display driver is probably causing the problem.

For part 2 were you at any time using these apps:
Norton AV, iCloud, and IDT Audio
At times download applications may attach Mcafee or Norton or other software.
Run this Norton removal tool to see if it has any impact:
Uninstall and Reinstall Norton product using the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool

For part 3 what do you see under display adapters? Is there one or two listed?
Expand the Display adapters section, right-click the listed adapter, then select Uninstall device. Select the Delete the driver software for this device check box, then select Uninstall*and restart your PC.

In part 1, as far as I can see, the pop-up itself does not flicker.

In part 2, I have not used any of those apps, however I have ran the Norton uninstall app, and it seemed to have no impact.
I know some downloads try to install McAfee or Norton products, but I always try to be very careful about this.

As for part 3, there is only 1 display adapter listed, I have looked with the "View hidden devices" in Device Manager too.
As I said, uninstalling or attempting a driver update for the Intel graphics driver made no difference.
It is the Generic PnP monitor that leaves me stuck with 2 devices, one of which does not seem to work properly, but I cannot get rid of it, that is why I disabled the main one.

This is the device manager as it is when opened:

No splash screen at daily startup [IMG]

    And with hidden devices shown:

No splash screen at daily startup [IMG]

I am a bit frightened to post a screenshot in Safe Mode, as the top one has a yellow triangle then and does not work, and with the bottom one disabled, I might end up looking at my screen blindly.

For each Generic PnP Monitor please post an image of driver details:
Right click > properties > driver > driver details
Please post the DM log: BSOD - Posting Instructions - Windows 10 Forums (see earlier post)

No splash screen at daily startup

This is the one with the yield sign, the properties say (obviously) the device is disabled:

No splash screen at daily startup [IMG]

This is the "copy", according to the properties, this device is not connected:

Some more information regarding the splash screen issue:
I have noticed that, when I hold the "Volume Up" control (in my case "Fn+F8") while I press the power button (I read this somewhere online, can't remember where), the laptop boots up immediately.
However, the Samsung splash screen stays there for quite a while.

I also noticed that, when the machine refuses to boot up, it seems to be the HDD that does not start right away (that is what I assume when I watch the lights).

Does any of that make any sense to the more knowledgeable among you?

Hi, two simple ideas coming from a different direction:

First, let's separate the screen flicker/driver issues from your existing Windows installation.

Please download and create Kyhi's boot disk/DVD from the top of the Software and Apps section. (This is a very handy tool to have).
Please boot from it, and see if you have any sort of display quirk or oddity as you have been describing.

Second, do you have a spare hard drive you could use in your laptop?
It would be useful to know if, having clean installed Win 10 to a different drive, whether you still have any boot issues.

These steps would help to identify a possible hardware issue, or whether it's a problem with your OS installation/drivers etc

It is a little difficult to imagine this being a driver problem, as you have experienced these problems both in the AU & now the CU (with a new set of drivers).

This sounds so much like a hardware problem: (MBO or PSU)

    Hi,
    thank you for your input.

I have downloaded th ISO and put it onto a DVD.

I set the boot order to boot from DVD, but apart from the fact the machine booted up much slower than usual, it booted up in Windows like it always does.
I did not see anything different happen, unless I missed something, of course.

    Anyway, thank you for this.

No splash screen at daily startup

Did you see this when you booted from your DVD?

Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk - Windows 10 Forums

Did you burn the iso to your DVD or simply copy the file to it as a data disk?
You need to do the first. The second does not create a bootable DVD.

    - means you didn't boot from the DVD, but from your hard disk- exactly what we're trying not to do.

Or have you not changed the boot order in BIOS (as is always required and has been required for many years) so the PC looks at your DVD drive before the hard disk?

    e.g.
How To Change the Boot Order (Boot Sequence) in BIOS

    Again:

No, unfortunately I saw my usual normal desktop.
Yes, I used the first method and have a bootable disk.

I did change the boot order, I also tried from a USB stick, it seems to be ignored by the laptop.
And, I forgot to mention that, unfortunately I do not have a spare HDD at the moment.

Thank you for your help so far.

You need to have a means of separating the issues. Presently you don't, alas.

May I ask- does your PC boot from any Win 10 bootable media, or is failing to recognise bootable media perhaps part of your symptoms?

Have you checked to see if there's a BIOS update available?
