Windows 10: No stereo allowed on Windows 10

Aloha everyone. I am new here so be gentle. I have had a home studio for many years. Very modest. Basically my problem is: when I try to record using my Adobe Audition or Sony Soundforge software to my Windows 10 machine, it takes a normal discrete, two channel stereo signal and reduces it to one single mono channel that appears on both left and right inputs. I had no problem with my old XP machines which makes me think it might be a driver issue. My system is very straight forward. I have a Mackie 1402VLZ4 mixer driving a Rolls RA 163 distribution amplifier that feeds up to four sources. In my case I am feeding three computers and one DAT machine. I have a 22 inch tall standard rack cabinet housing various audio enhancers like a Distribution Amp, mic processor, graphic eq, monitor amp, dbx compressor/limiter and a CD machine- all patchable. I guess my question is why are my "newish" Windows 10 computers acting in this puzzling manner? (Main computer: Lenovo Windows 10 version 1909 OS Build: 18363.1016)

Windows 10 Tweaks

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows 10 Stereo Mix

I suggest you to follow the methods below and check if it helps:

Method 1:

Try the following steps to enable the stereo mix and check if that help.



a) Right click on the audio icon in your system tray and select “Recording Devices” to open the Recording device settings in the “Sound” window.



b) In the pane, right-click on a blank area, and make sure both “View Disabled Devices” and “View Disconnected Devices” options are checked. You should be able to see the “Stereo Mix” option appearing.



c) Right-click on “Stereo Mix” and click “Enable” to be able to use it.



This should enable the “Stereo Mix” on Windows



Method 2:

If the issue persists then I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the sounds card driver and check if it helps.

• 
  Right Click on Start, Select Device Manager.
  
• 
  Find and double-click the category of device whose driver you wish to uninstall.
  
• 
  Right-click the device, and click Uninstall.
  
• 
  Windows will prompt you to confirm the device’s removal. Click
  OK to remove the driver.
  
• 
  After the uninstallation is complete, reboot your computer as soon as possible
