No stereo quality option for microphone in realtek drop down

    Hi,

I use an ACER ASPIRE 4736Z laptop running on windows 10 32 bit OS.I have tried many versions of realtek and updated all my audio drivers but still i don't get the option studio quality for the microphone settings in realtek audio manager.Instead i get only CD and DVD quality options. This doesn't help as i always get a hiss when i record using my microphone.i have adjusted the microphone settings in the control panel as well. Please help me in getting the studio quality option for the microphone in realtek audio manager.Find the attached image

  2. n95 8gb video hardware

Audio recording for video application in general hasn't been good in any device thus far IMHO.

The best one I've used was the N93, since it had stereo microphones and it recorded videos with stereo audio at semi-decent quality and the original Ngage since it had the option of a real STEREO input so you could use extra microphones or connect the mixer
    directly to it!

I believe there are a few of the newer phones also have stereo microphones but I've never used them.

I'm using the N97 mini and the audio recording is underwhelming as always and only in Mono.

The N95 8GB wasn't very good (if memory serves right) as the microphone was commonly covered with the hand while holding the phone to take videos, so if you were happy with it maybe the N97 mini or the upcoming N8 would be good option for you.

    Windows 10 Microphone Static/Crackling Problem?-Please Help!

If you are using the Realtek HD Audio Manager, open your microphone settings and turn the "Microphone Boost" option all the way down to zero.

The quality option is not your problem. 16 bit/44100Hz is the industry standard "CD Quality" and what standard wav files are. In my recording studio, I record at 24 bit/44100Hz but when its finally mixed down to the final form it is 16 bit/44100Hz.

The hiss, usually, is because the volume level is set too high and either the microphone is generating the hiss or the PC hardware is generating the hiss "Noise". PC sound cards are notorious for having a low signal to noise ratio (noisy).

    Thanks Firebred,

Seems it's an issue with PC sound card as i have tested multiple mics and all of them produce hiss.Do you have any suggestion? Can i insert any good quality sound card in my laptop that would give me studio quality recording or should i buy a new laptop? if yes, then which one?
Is there some other work around? My intention is to sing and record good quality vocals with music.

There are USB connected "sound cards", such as those from Creative (SoundBlaster). I don't know what the spec's are for those.

If you want to "sing and record good quality vocals with music" you really need a USB recording interface unit. There are many available, from companies such as Focusrite, Presonus, Roland, etc. A unit with two microphone/instrument inputs would do for what you want. Some even come with a basic recording program. You will also need a good "music" quality microphone. The inexpensive "computer mics" and even the ones on gaming headsets are not designed for music (singing).

    shakennstirred,

If you check your realtek audio manager for microphone default settings you'd most probably see the option stereo quality as can be seen in the screenshot below from my office computer.I just don't understand why it doesn't come in my ACER ASPIRE 4736Z despite installing the same realtek version *Sad. I have noted in other computers/laptops that choosing this option(stereo quality) reduces the hiss to almost minimum for the same microphone i use.

    Thanks Firebred,

I don't want a seperate system for recording.I need to do it in my PC.I hope this USB recording interface unit you mentioned could be connected to my laptop USB port? What about Yeti USB mics?Any idea?

  11. I checked mine and it doesn't have the stereo setting, just the CD/DVD
