Windows 10: Noob Question About Mic Setup

if someone figures this out id paypal 50 bucks.. haha its been a pain

 

Sorry, edited my orig post to incl Recording Devices, not Sound (I just installed bluetooth speakers thru this tab and had a brain fart) which is where your mic is. Follow the directions and see if Windows can configure it instead of Realtek. This presumes there were no issues updating the sound driver in Device Manager, as you said in post 1

 

ya it says that everythin is up to date and working properly in drivers i did em all in sound , keyboard and games tab and audio inputs and outputs tab.

 

lol i also tried this feature it wont let me read the sample sentence..

 

it aint muted in controls or on mic itself. lol i wish it was

 

i tried all forms of mic in wizard as well..

Post these same Recording Device windows and Device Manager in the working computer and see if that narrows down what is different on this one. It should appear as 'Line In'.
Also, did you ever play the m4a file ? I use Mediamonkey but if you don't have it, I think VLC will play it, if Groove does not.

 

okay so i tried on the other computer it is a tablet w/ windows 10. it wont let me listen to the file if the mic was plugged in, even once it was configured as a desk top mic instead of a headset.. idk y. so i unplugged it and then i could hear the recording of my voice fine (on the tablet) in windows media player and the wizard works, etc.

i tried unplugging and listening on this rig where i got the problem still nothing. im using the 'mic in' i have tried 'line in' with same results. there seems to be a menu in the properties that i do NOT have on this rig when i plug it in. on the tablet it says in 'properties' under 'enhancements' tab: 'immediate mode' 'dc offset cancellation' 'keystroke suppression,' all checked. all i have is: 'disable all sound effects' check box, on the rig w/ the problems. no menu with all that extra stuff...

 

see the black plug on the right bar? it is the 'mic in' it gives me the option to choose once i plug it in.. i have tried the pink one and the other black line in also like i said already.

 

so i just tried 'line in' in 'connector re tasking' while it remained in the black mic in slot still no green bars and the audio manager. comes up like this now.(see screen shot below) still no green bars flashing in 'recording devices tab. now it says there is nothing plugged in when i try to set it up. cant even get to first step in setup.

some other forum is sayin jus get a usb audio card at this point less than 10 bucks best idea yet my gawd...... just ordered off amazon some more china components to go w/ the china ram, board, video card, case, ffs the whole rig.. hahaha.
