Windows 10: Norton says I have 124 broken registry keys.

I've just managed to reinstall Windows 7 and upgrade back to Windows 10 after blue screen failure. re-installed Norton 360 and smart scan saying I have 124 broken registries and a 'slow programme'. how can I have 124 registry issue already? I've already run both SFC and DISM commands - anyone help or is this just a Norton marketing ploy?* Changed to a question* Original title: broken registry keys

6 Broken registries alert from Norton Security

Norton security tells me I have 6 broken registries and need to buy a clean-up tool. I tried scanregw.exe but find that it is no longer used. What should I do, ignore Norton, or buy that thing, or do something else?

I would recommend you follow the below given steps and check if it fixes the issue.

I would suggest you to restart the Norton services from the services list, and set the Norton service to automatic.

Follow these steps to run Norton services:

Method 1:

Follow these steps to run Norton services

a. Press Windows key + R

b. In the run windows, type services.msc

c. It will open services windows

d. select norton services from the list of services

e. double click on it

f. At the top of the window, Make sure the service status is started and startup type is
automatic.

g.Click apply and OK.

If this does not fix the issue, try uninstalling and reinstalling Norton software and check if it helps.

If the above steps do not help , I would suggest you to contact Norton for further help.

Norton says need to reset registry for backup to process

ah ha ...I agree with 'bulldog' .

I would check Registry after removing Norton - thats if you do. Every Program leaves something behind.

But be very careful, if you use a third party registry cleaner.

Norton is a brute of a program and in my experiences with it has proven very good,

for what it does.

But removing it , when the time came, Phew! is all I can say, but did it.
