Not able to backup files located on an external HD

    Hi

I need to backup mp3 files located on the external HD "XXX".

I go to Control Panel and Backup settings and i set as backup untit the external drive "YYY", then i remove all the default folder to be backup music, documents, downloads and so on and I add a folder on HD "XXX". Once i press on "Execute Backup Now" he try to do something but it doesn't backup anything without giving any error.

I try the same selecting the default "Music" folder on the local drive C:\ instead of the folder on HD "XXX" and the backup work fine.

The problem seems to be that is not possible to backup a folder on an external HD

    :)

  2. Backup location on external HD not accepted by Windows 10

Unhappily, it will not display or let me select my own external drive. (Seagate 3T) It allows only network locations, no individual drives, which is making me batty.

In desperation, I connected my husband's external drive, shared it, and it is now recognized as a network location.

For the moment I am limping along with this fix, so I don't fill up his HD completely with my backups and crashing his computer. But I sure would like a fix that allows me to b/u to my own HD.

    So strange!

  4. Not able to backup files located on an external HD

How to set a Backup location (Windows XP)?

Hi Greg - It is Windows 7.

The problem is when I attach an external hard drive to use as a backup the device does not come up as a possible backup (if I go through the steps to choose a backup). Nor is it listed as a folder in the Libraries window to drag files into.

I have gone through via Windows help all steps, and yet the drive is still not appearing as a possible Backup location.

    (It is listed in Devices).

If you can explain to me how to set this external hard drive up as a backup I'd be grateful!
