Windows 10: Not able to fix this - Error 0x80071771 : The specified file could not be decrypted

I am getting this error since last hour and I am not able to get rid of this anyhow.

I went and searched on Google for this error and got this link which solves Error 0x80071771. It looks like it has to do something with Drives, but not understanding whats wrong here.


Though I searched for exact reason behind this error, I did not find any helpful resources.

Can anybody please point some authentic resources on this.

Hello , So i have this very very old hdd and i am looking for an AMV video i did yeaaars ago. It may be somewhere inside it , but when i try to look at some files i can't cause they are locked.

Tried Iobit , tied to unlock them (uncheck the encrypted property) , but i can't access them.

It says Error 0x80071771: The specified file could not be decrypted.

This hdd had windows xp on it. I am using Windows 10.

Error message 0x80071771 means that you need to restore the file encryption key in order for you to decrypt the encrypted files. On the other hand, you can still try these steps and see if it will work:

• Right-click the file or folder that you want to decrypt.
• Click File ownership and click Personal.
