  1. Not able to see anything on safe mode screen

I'm having nothing but problems trying to rebuild my DAW -- I'm getting extremely depressed and I don't like windows 10 at all. I briefly got the OS to run after replacing the Mobo, chip, and memory then added in two 2TB M.2 (samsung). I had installed the old 'c' drive (sandisk 1tb ssd) and my primary data hdd which came along with the recycled system that I used for the build. I was happy at that point, looking forward to the start of customizing the rig the next day. I just left it on and idling overnight to let dropbox do some housecleaning and catchup. Next day the problems started. First, the OS was no longer activated and I spent 7 hours going round and round to find a way to recover the digital license that was provided when I did the free update from Win7ultimate to Win10Pro. I won't belabor the details but suffice to say I was forced to buy a new product key because no one can find or tell me where to get said digital license. Once that was installed, the system wanted to do updates and after that I attempted to migrate the OS from the old sandisk to one of the two new M.2 drives. After that seemed to be successful and I rebooted several times, I was going to move on to my next task when the system suddenly froze and rebooting ended up with a single log-on (my account but there were four others defined) and when I rebooted I got the dreaded, "The user profile service failed the sign-in. User profile cannot be loaded." I tried some of the OS built-in repair options and even tried a restore point from before the changes. The only thing I noted is that the restore point did not appear to be able to see the data drive which was attached and seemed to be working. Next, I researched that problem but the only way I can do anything is by getting into safe mode -- preferably with networking so I can look stuff up. I can do the steps required to get to the F4/F5 safe mode start but all that happens is that my screen goes black with a cursor and hour-glass and just sits there and flickers endlessly (well, I let it go for over an hour with nothing happening). I don't know what other options there may be or what is causing the problem. I can neither use my old boot drive nor can I seem to use my M.2 install. I can't get to a registry to try finding the problem, I can't sign-in and I can't do safe mode so far as I can tell. I'm thinking the only things left to try are to (preferably) 1) do a repair install or (far less preferably) 2) do a reinstall of Windows 10 Pro. Problem is, I don't know how to do this when I did the free update (back last March) or where I would get the right disk to do the right install without having to buy a copy. Anyone have ideas on how to get out of the morass I find myself in?

    :)

  2. Password not accepted in Safe mode

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community forum.

Have you tried all the above steps suggested by Sangeeta Sarkar on September 13, 2015.

I would suggest you to provide some information to help you better.

    • Are you trying to login the Microsoft account or the Local account in safe mode?
    • Did you try with only safe mode or safe mode with networking?
    • What is the critical error you are getting?

If you are using Windows 10. To go to safe mode you have to follow the below steps.

If you are able to go to login screen in normal mode try the below steps to go to safe mode with networking.

    • At the login screen click on the power symbol.

    • Hold SHIFT + Click Restart.

    • After restarting your system, select the Troubleshoot option.

    • Select advanced options under
      Troubleshoot screen.

    • Click on Startup Settings.

    • Click Restart and follow the onscreen steps to go to
Safe Mode with networking and check if you are able to login.

    [*]
Please get back with more information, we will be glad to help you further.
