Windows 10: Not able to use an Usb

I inserted a USB & it is not shown in file explorer. I opened the disk manager app & all options are grayed out. I have 2 USBs and both of them have the same issue, much worse 1 of them is not even shown in the disk manager app. I tried Diskpart & it shows this error "The command you selected is not available with this version of Windows."Thank you

Programs not working

In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
Are you able to follow them?
In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

 

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk
