Windows 10: Not accepting key presses at login unless you restart

Hi,


Since last update, when I boot the PC and try to log in, Windows will not accept any key presses except for the"Enter" key. If I mouse over and do a Restart, the problem goes away and I can log in as normal. I've updated usb drivers but the problem persists. So the only way I can log into window now is by booting the pc and then perform a restart. Please help.

We suggest that you proceed with running DISM tool. Please follow the steps below to run the DISM tool:

• 
  Press Windows key + X and select the Command Prompt (Admin).
  
• 
  In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, enter the following commands (Press the Enter key after each command):
  

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth



DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

• 
  To close the Administrator: Command prompt window, type Exit, and press Enter.
  
• 
  Restart the machine.

Change Beep when keys are pressed or accepted

Hi everybody,

I want to know; if there is a way to change a sound, beep, that win 10 plays when this option is enable.

Path:

Control Panel\Ease of Access\Ease of Access Center\Set up Filter Keys

Other settings

• Beep when keys are pressed or accepted.

I don't like that beep, I want another one and it would be great if the user can change it.

I suggest you to perform Safe Mode with Networking and then try to change the password.

Method 1: Safe mode.

Please follow below steps:

    Click on power button at left bottom corner, press and hold
    Shift key and click on Restart.
    
  • 
    Click on Troubleshoot.
    
  • 
    Click on Advanced options.
    
  • 
    Click on Startup Settings.
    
  • 
    Click on Restart.
    
  • 
    Login to Microsoft Account and create a new administrator account.
    

If you’re not able to login using Microsoft account then refer to below steps and check if it helps.

Method 2:
Activate Inbuilt Administrator Account.

Follow the below steps:

    Click on power button at left bottom corner, press and hold
    Shift key and click on Restart.
    
  • 
    Click on Troubleshoot.
    
  • 
    Click on Advanced options.
    
  • 
    Click on Command Prompt and enter following command.
    
    net user Administrator /active:yes
    

Now reboot your system and login to inbuilt admin account and try to reset password for other account. Once you reset password login to other account and to deactivate inbuilt admin account enter following command in elevated command prompt.

net user Administrator /active:no
