Not Allowing Password Input After Waking Up from Screensaver

I noticed a peculiar issue yesterday.

When the screensaver is active and I clicked the mouse to wake up the computer, I am taken to the lock screen where it displays the date and time. I need to click the mouse again to bring up the login screen, where I put in my password to get to the desktop. Everything goes well.

Nevertheless, if I press any key on the keyboard to get from the lock screen to the Windows login screen instead of using the mouse, the login screen is displayed, but I cannot input any password. The mouse pointer remains responsive, but the pointer doesn't do anything when I click on the password input box or any of the icons on the lower right corner of the screen. I had to press Ctrl-Alt-Del several times to activate the password input box. Even so, the computer doesn't respond immediately. It remains in an unresponsive state for 10-20 seconds. Once I successfully signin Windows, then everything behaves normally.

I Googled and searched the forum here, but I didn't find any description of a similar problem.

Aside from just using the mouse from now on, has anyone else experienced this behavior?

    :)

    windows 10 screensaver

The screensaver setting, "Sleep" setting, and "require login on wake/resume" are different things. Control Panel
Power Settings allow you to set your pc to sleep (standby) after 5 minutes on battery and 20 minutes plugged in for example. Then you can set the
password required upon wake option. Naturally a screensaver should start
before sleep starts - and yes, Win10 could warn you, but doesn't.

If the screensaver settings are not offered at all, or not being saved, that is quite different. To get to screen saver settings, click on the search icon in the taskbar and type "screen" + Enter key . When you select one it immediately displays it in the
small preview screen right above the settings. Can you see that? Check
    "on resume display login screen"
to block your roommate, then Apply. I assume this is the same setting for
require password on wake in the Power Settings.

(Note: unchecking password required on wake appears to conflict with using a password on power up. The only way I could
stop a login screen on wake was to blank my login password.)

  3. Photo Gallery as screensaver.

This problem arose after installing 'Creator update', three days ago, on my Win10 pro with 16Gb Ram.

Everything works as before with one exception. I was using Photo Gallery as screensaver. After the update, Photo gallery screensaver starts and works as it should. But Mouse movement or Keyboard input has no effect in stopping screensaver and going back
to desktop. Using, ctrl-alt-del combination is the only way to get back to desktop.

I changed screensaver to other options, like Bubbles, 3D writing and all the others available screensavers. Mouse and Keyboard wakes up the system and Desktop pops up in all other screensavers. Only when using Photo Gallery, movement of Mouse or Keyboard
    produces no effect.

There are no other peripherals on my system.

Thanks for any help and suggestions.
