Windows 10: Not enough space to update Win10

    Not enough space to update Win10


    I have a Zotac Zbox with a 28GB hard-drive. I haven't used it in 10 months (I only use it when traveling), and I'm trying to download/install all Win10 updates. Since the PC hasn't been powered up in so long, it's quite a lot of updates, apparently.

    The problem is, Windows Update keeps complaining that there isn't enough space to download the updates. I've uninstalled EVERYTHING except my anti-virus software, and there just isn't enough space. I was able to free up about 5 GB of space, but when running Windows Update, after about 10 minutes the hard-drive is full again. There's nothing else I can delete.

    Is there a way to get Windows to download the updates to a USB stick and install from there? Any other solutions?

    Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
    Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

    Which Windows updates in 8.1 where the gateway to installing Win10? I've ALWAYS had update as a "check but let me decide" basis however I woke up to this.
