Windows 10: not reconising cd/dvd player

why when micro soft decide on up grading windows 10 does the operating system not recognize that there is a built in cd/dvd player, I am still waiting for the system to recognize it from the recent up grade , I have been through the system settings and its not showing, the one time I took the computer a

(Lenovo G500 laptop) it show up when they booted up, so I just got funny looks from them, but it has happened a lot of times since then, can anyone advise.

Method 1: Follow these steps to run the windows in built troubleshooter:

• 
  1. Write Troubleshooting in the search box and hit enter.
  
  2. Click on Troubleshooting tab.
  
  3. Click on view all option on the upper left corner.
  
  4. Select the Hardware and Device options from the list.
  
  5. Click Next to run the Hardware and Device Troubleshooter.
  

Method 2: I suggest you to update the DVD/CD-ROM drivers on your computer and check if it helps. Refer the below steps to update the driver.

• 
  1. Press “Windows + X” and select Device manager.
  
  2. Select DVD/CD-ROM and expand the driver icon.
  
  3. Right click on the driver icon and click on Update.
  
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to update the driver.
  
  5. Restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

For better assistance, provide the answers to the following questions:

• Are you using an external CD/DVD drive?
• Have you made any changes on your device prior to the issue?
• How did you know that your CD/DVD player was not installed? Did you receive an error message?

If you have manually uninstalled the driver, restart your computer. Once the computer restarts, the drivers will be automatically installed.
