Windows 10: Not updating/installing anything but keep getting error code1618 skype

tried updating skype but getting error code 1618
tried updating AVG anti virus but update failed: update detect running installation. Complete that installation before starting update
not installing or updating anything at the moment.

Cant download anything from the store keep getting error code 805a01f4. Skype won't open either. Please help resolve this.

 

Skype not installing error 1618

I tried to update my skype a few times but nothing's working. I went through all of the posts already available for this error and none of it is working.

I then had the brilliant idea to search my PC for anything skype related and just deleted it.

Now I'm trying to install skype and I'm still getting this error.

I have windows 10.

 

Have you restarted the machine and tried updating Skype afterwards?

 

Having the exact same problems. Very frustrating. Unable to install/update programs including Windows Updates, AVG. Also cannot uninstall programs. Hoping someone can recommend a fix!

Checked Task Manager, but there are no programs running that needs "End Task".

Then checked Administrator Tools --> Services --> Windows Installer --> Properties --> here I got stuck, supposed to change Startup Type from Manual to Disabled, then restart the computer; however, the dropdown menu for Startup Type does not function.

 

this was since last month. restarted everyday and tried the microsoft FAQ by going into task manager n end all non windows running program but still didnt work after that.
