Windows 10: Notepad has disappeared from my Windows 10 PC!

I have Windows 10 and it says I'm up to date with Updates. Until the most recent update, I had Notepad on my machine and a link to it on the taskbar. It's gone now, and I cannot get it to come up on my PC. I tried to download it and install it from Windows Store, but it says I already have it installed. Well, I don't! There's no sign of it anywhere. And the default file associations has made a notepad file I created into an RTF file, so that when I click on it, it uses another word-processing application! What has happened? It doesn't even appear in the Windows Accessories folder.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK
