    I keep getting asked to go to share and fix problem, it may be your password. I am not having issues and they I don't want to be on any new build program or anything like that. I was and had it removed because of issues and I am afraid if I go to the site they want it will put me back on it. The site just has fix without detail.

    Thanks for posting your query to Microsoft forum. I will certainly help you with this.

    I would like to know;

    • Do you have any other user account or is the issue specific to your user account?
    • Are you able to share after password ?
    Since you have already tried the logical troubleshooting, I would suggest you to make change in the group policy and check the issue. Refer the link below:

    Note: The link is for Windows 7 however the same steps has been tested on Windows 10.

    Refer Shaon Shan's suggestion:

    Network Sharing Failure: Password Protection off still require password.

    Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

    Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

    Windows 10 share always asks for password

    i haven't had the opportunity to test the recommendation on the original win 10 problem machine, BUT having the same issue on a win 8.1 pro machine i did what the link suggested and i'm still asked for a user id and password. i put the correct id and password
    in and it loops back around saying the id and password is incorrect. i also get the same thing when using the guest id that i turned on. i can access this machine from other win 7, 8, 8.1 and linux machines WITHOUT entering a user id and password which proves
    that password protected sharing is off. this machine is a not part of a home group. i really need some answers to this issue as it is causing a lot of problems with sharing on the network.
