Windows 10: Notifications stopped making sound

The notifications still appear in a box at the bottom right, but it just doesn't make any sound anymore. even when I plugged in a mouse or a keyboard, the "plugged in / unplugged" sound also stopped. I've looked in the sound tab in the control panel, the notification sound is selected, but when I press "test" I hear nothing. Any fixes for this problem?

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

To change notification sounds

• 
  In the App list, tap Settings > Notifications + actions, then tap an app from the list.
  
• 
  Tap Notification sound, and then do one of the following:
  
  • Tap Play to preview a sound, and then tap the name of the sound you want to use.
  • If you don’t want to hear a sound for a notification, tap None.

Please provide some additional information, so that we can assist you better.

1. What is the make and model number of your computer?
   
2. Have you made any changes on your computer?
   

However, I suggest you to follow the below mentioned step:

1. Go to “Control panel”.
   
2. Select ‘Sound’.
   
3. Under sounds tab select ‘Program event’.
   
4. Under program event, select ‘Notification’.
   
5. Make sure you select ‘Notification’ sound for startup application and system notification.
