Start menu not working

I found the following article, ran the suggested powershell command and my start menu is working again. Here it is as I found it:
Go to Start menu button and right click on it. This will open the contextual menu, after which you need to select Command Prompt (Admin). Once Command Prompt is open, go ahead with the following steps.

• Type and enter: Powershell
• Type the following: Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

 

start menu doesn't work

My start menu does not work. I get the message "Critical Error", etc., etc. It says to "sign out now and well try to fix it next time you sign in", but that never fixes the problem. I found another page on this MS answers website that says to press
the windows key + r and then type in the command "ms-settings" but then i get the error message "Windows cannot find ms-settings..." etc. So, the solution the experts are suggesting i try, doesn't even work on its first step. This is extremely frustrating.

Start Menu not working in Windows 10

Hi, Sagnik,

I am having the same issues... the start menu doesn't work, no "Store" app or any apps!, and the "Search the web and windows" does not work either (I'm not able to type anything in the text field). I've performed all of the steps you have given without success.
Do you have any other suggestions?
