Windows 10: Npcap Loopback Adapter Error

For a few weeks I've been encountering intermittent connectivity issues on many of the devices in my network. I've finally narrowed this down to being caused by a Npcap Loopback Adapter malfunction of some kind.


I've confirmed that npcap is the issue two-fold:

1. Running diagnostics on the adapter returns a network ip config error

2. Disabling npcap loopback within network settings resolves the connectivity issues with the other devices on my network.



I've also had some issues with localhost functions which I believe may be intertwined with this somehow. I'm not sure how or why that's possible, but I'm now also encountering an error where when I try to access folders/files/code via localhost it returns a 'server not found' error.


I could easily leave the adapter disabled and have connectivity function properly in its absence, however my OCD and never-ending need to create new and exciting ways to annoy myself will not allow for me to handle it in this manner.


I could really use someone with a stronger understanding of network adapters and how to configure them properly to weigh in and offer me some guidance. I have done several hours of reading and far more troubleshooting and experimenting with different methods of overcoming this error, with only disabling the adapter yielding any tangible results. I'd first like to get whatever ip configuration the error details are referring to configured properly, so that I can run diagnostics again and confirm this is indeed the main obstacle I need to overcome. At which point then deciding what - if any - further action is needed.


I can provide any error report, network, or other details, to anyone qualified to assist.

Yes, i think the Npcap Loopback Adapter appeared after the Creators Update if I’m not mistaken.

Do you know what it is & what does it do?

maybe is to late but thought would be helpful, Npcap loopback is part of the Nmap software Npcap is prerequisite software for Nmap , you download Nmap on your PC, by default it will create loop back adapter for capturing data purpose simply uninstall
Ncap it will go away.but Nmap wont work properly you will have to uninstall both
