Windows 10: Number Lock

I have an HP Pavilion Laptop. It's a Core i5 with 64bit Operating System. CPU 2.30GHz Windows 10


I have had various niggly little things go wrong after Window/Microsoft updates.


1. I seem to have found a solution to this one only. On the F6 key there's a little LED light showing whether sound is on or muted, by downloading a small app I can over-ride the original driver.


2. When I have turned the laptop on, the num lock key is set to off.


3. I have been unable to do a System Restore for about the last 12 months. I get an error message window up. There's plenty of

Restore dates to choose from.


The error msg is. System Restore did not complete successfully. Your computer's system files & settings were not changed.

Details: Sys Res failed while deleting the following file/directory. Path C:\Users\Downloads\One Drive\

An unspecified error occurred during sys res. (0x80071sc5)

Number Lock


I have now tried every fix suggested on here from fast boot to reg changes and nothing works , number lock stays off after shutdown .

Changing the registry values that you suggested, danstra1, shouldn't do anything drastic at all, just go in, do that and get out. Unfortunately this is only a temporary fix, because as soon as my screensaver comes on, or my computer goes to sleep and wakes back up, num lock is back off again, right when I need it to be on to put my PIN in! Funny thing is sometimes it tricks me and lets me type the first number in of my PIN before turning num lock after it 'realises' that it's not supposed to be on.

I tried the suggestion, however it did not work on my HP Laptop. I wish it had.
