Windows 10: Numbers on keyboard not working

Since yesterday my keyboard was not working properly, as in upon pressing the shift key, the symbols would not appear. I tried to fix this by using windows recovery, to no avail, these issues appeared as seen in the reliability window. And furthermore, I can only use numbers 5 and 6 on the numeric row. It is an Inspiron 15 7579 2-in-1 laptop. Can anyone please help?

I understand that the keyboard does not function as you expected. We will assist you to resolve the issue.

This issue may arise due to driver conflicts or changes in the settings.

I suggest you to try the same keyboard with a different computer and make sure that the keyboard is working fine with other computers. I would also suggest you to check whether you are able to access the same keys using the On Screen keyboard provided
in Windows 10. Please check whether the Number lock indicator is working properly.

As a basic troubleshooting step, I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter.

1. Type troubleshooting in the search bar.

2. Select Troubleshooting.

3. Select View all on the top left corner.

4. Click on Hardware and Devices.

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.

6. Check if issue persists.

If the issue persists, I suggest you to press the
Windows key + space to change the layout and check if it selected as US English.

Step 2: Run Hardware and device Troubleshooter.
