Windows 10: Nvidia Control Panel Crash Fix Win10 1903

Hey

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but i thought i would share this temporary fix for Nvidia Control crashing upon changing brightness , Contrast and Gamma


Issue: after the update if you try to change these custom settings your Nvidia control panel will crash

Fix: Basically you need to disable fast start feature


How to do this : Right click Windows start button lower left side of your desktop , left click search , type control panel , press enter

click top right side of your screen and adjust by large icons , click power options ,

Click Choose what the power buttons do. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable. here ( you have to be admin ) you can tick off the fast start feature

It will slow down few seconds ( i guess it depends on your machine ) but not a lot , after that save your work etc and do a full shut down ( normally power down your pc no sleep mode , restart etc ) and then normal boot up and try to change your brightness settings once more now it should work

Tested on Nvidia 1080 with the 430.86 driver + Win 10 build 18362 or ( 1903 update )

I understand that nvidia Control Panel is not accepting desktop color settings correctly, In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, we would need some
information.

1. What is the Make and the Model of the computer?
   
2. May I know the Model of the nvidia Graphic card?
   

I suggest you to try the following methods and check:

Method 1: Change the output dynamic range to full.

1. Open nvidia control panel.
   
2. Click on Display.
   
3. Select Change resolution.
   
4. Output dynamic range
   
5. Set this value to Full.
   

Method 2: Update nvidia Graphic driver.

Suggest you to update the nvidia Graphic driver from the

nvidia website and check if it fixes the issue.

Windows 10 version 1903 Nvidia Control Panel issues.

Recently updated to Windows 10 version 1903, build 18362.175 I now realise the Nvidia Control Panel is not accepting desktop colour settings correctly.

If I have Fast start-up enabled then it ignores Choose how colour is set when I have Use NVIDIA settings selected. If I try to change the sliders to adjust brightness, contrast, gamma then the Nvidia Control Panel crashes and I have to restart it. If I restart
or disable Fast start-up then the Nvidia Control Panel settings work as they did in version 1809 (all builds)

I have tried the latest hotfix 430.97 from Nvidia but there is no improvement.

The only thing I haven't tried so far is to uninstall Nvidia drivers and re-install, I have previously updated as they are presented using GeForce Experience.
Any ideas??

 

Nvidia Control Panel Missing


Do you have the DCH driver installed? You need to grab the controlpanel from the Microsoft Store if you do. If you don't then just DDU your driver in safe mode, plug out the ethernet/wireless connection and install the standard Nvidia driver manually. This will fix it. I can write or link you a step-by guide if you are unfamiliar with it.
