I'm current on all the updates.

Every once in awhile, I come back to my PC after it sleeps, and there's no wifi connection at all - totally down. ( I use a USB wifi adapter to connect to the router here. ) This has happened twice this past week - the latest time today.

So I go to restart and it takes 5-10 minutes of spinning the screen wheely thing, before even shutting down, then restarts, does some more stuff, then starts ok. But during that, it refers me to windows.com/stopcode , where I see nothing apparently helpful, and it speaks ( on the screen here ) of a driver power state failure, but I have no idea what that is, and what driver.

Does it keep a log when these things happen, that I can read, post here and do something to solve?

    :)

Did you try changing the settings to never go to sleep ? I mean sometimes it is better to waste power over having issues after you wake it back up plus if you don't want to waste too much power just reinstall windows to see if the problem is not with the software although I do recommend to check for viruses before hand with a good AV like avast or 360 total security

I've been told that Avast isn't so good, in recent years, and quit using it. The network engineers at my local ISP agree with what I'm using
now, which is Microsoft Security Essentials ( or whatever they call it in Windows 10 ) and Malwarebytes.

No, I didn't change the settings from sleep, because I think that leaves the HD spun up all the time and shortens its life?

As far as reinstalling Windows 10, I'm thinking more in terms of getting a refurbed PC with Win 8.1, transferring all my programs to that, then buying 8.1 for this PC and installing it, and using it as a redundant PC - even cloning the new one into it on a regular basis.

  6. Hard drives usually don't fail that easily and have decent life span of atleast 2 years so don't kind of go easy on it and go ahead to change the option for sleep settings to put bardrive to sleep when not I use ......just Google it at best
