  1. October 2020 windows update has broken my laptop and main pc

On mobile, because its the only thing working right now. Im probsbly going ro have to try to find a way to either: format my hard drives for both so i can get in and tell it not to do this latest update, or go to a friends house to have them help me reformat my computers main hard deive and stay offline until i get both restored, then try to update just becore this broken version of windows.

I do not have any backups, and even when i attempted to do a restore it said it couldnt find anything to use. A reset said it failed, any advanced options failed. Booting in safe mode failed. Trying a windows memory diagnostic tool right now to see if i cant recover SOMETHING before it feels like i have to do a full restore

    :)

October 2020 Windows 10 update problems

    Hello all,

After the Windows 10 update in early October 2020, I've experienced a couple of problems with my Lenovo laptop.

Firstly, I inserted a CD into my laptop, expecting it to autoplay on VLC media player as it normally would, but no luck. I went to the Windows CD settings and into "Play CDs or other media automatically" in the Control Panel. I enabled AutoPlay for all media
and devices, but still the CD would not play, even when I took it out and put it back in. I know it is not a problem with the CD as it has played for me before with no issues.

Secondly, the Sleep mode on my laptop seems to no longer exist. There are only options for Shut Down and Restart. This is bizarre and I miss Sleep mode, because it was very handy.

I could roll back the date on my system to an earlier stage, but this wouldn't be ideal and I'd rather fix the issues another way. I would appreciate any suggestions or solutions greatly.

    Thank you
