Windows 10: October Update Bricked my ASUS Laptop

I am going to TRY to avoid the obvious rant by just saying "Microsoft. Leave my damn computer ALONE!"

System working fine on October 1. It is a WORKING system that I use to MAKE MY LIVING. Unfortunately, I was forced into a Windows system becuase the necessary software is only available for Windows. :-/

My system gave me two options on shutdown last night. "update and restart" or "update and shut down". I had a really bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.


I chose update and shut down just before leaving the office.


This morning, October 2, 2018 - my system is destroyed. On boot, I get the blue screen that says something like "We have encountered a problem... " it then counts up to 100% and restarts the system... Only to repeat the same crud!


I have tried the "three forced shutdown" thing to no avail. It does nothing.

I have tried my "Recovery USB".... Of course, it does absolutely nothing except tell me it can't do anything.


One of the errors tells me that a required device is not present. But, of course, that is Windows fault in every conceivable way.


Again, this is a BUSINESS system. It is how I make a living. But, NONE of the safety measures that I have taken (recovery USB updated weekely, system backups on the second drive) NOTHING is accessible. And, NOTHING works.


What are my options?

I know this is going to blow your mind, but I've had bios bricks and I do laptop refurbs for a living. It happens... Particularly when the flash program is windows only and drivers are amuck.

Hey everyone,

Last night I wanted to update my bios which lead to the laptop bricking and wouldn't turn off until the battery finally died. I tried plugging it in afterwards but the laptop would neither charge nor turn on. I tried every trick in the book, but the laptop would not charge or turn on. Nothing. I read online that this could be due to a corrupt bios chip. I want to replace it, but considering the laptop won't turn on at all, does this also mean the motherboard is damaged? I read online that the motherboard cannot be ruined from a bad bios update so I'm hoping I just need to replace the bios chip as it is a cheaper solution than replacing the entire board. Can anyone recommend what to do? Any advice would be really really helpful. Thanks.
