Windows 10: Oculus Rift S Installation issue, WMI : System.Management.ManagementException: Invalid class

Hi All,

I am installing the Oculus Rift S application on my Acer Nitro laptop with Windows 10 Home. Version 1903, OS 18362.535. I see the following exception.

A few hours before in the event viewer I see the following event for WMI.


Event filter with query "//./root/CIMV2" could not be reactivated in namespace "SELECT * FROM __InstanceCreationEvent WITHIN 1 WHERE TargetInstance ISA 'Win32_Process'" because of error 0x80041010. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.


I have tried the installation several times, but I always get this exception and then the Oculus app installation fails

I have reached out to Oculus support as well, but I think it is an issue with my Windows rather than the Oculus application. I have an Nvidia 1060 on this laptop.


How do I fix this issue ?


Note : "sometimes" I see the exception below as well.

How many sensors with the Oculus Rift?

Hi, i was going to buy an oculus rift however i wanted to know how many sensors come in the oculus rift+ touch bundle? If it is only one sensor will I need to buy another sensor to play vr? Thanks in advance!

System.Management.ManagementException: Invalid class

Hello.

When I launch a application with "PhotonControl", I got following error message:

PhotonControl Error

Failed to query processes. Exception:

System.Managemnt.ManagementException: Invalid class

at System.Management.ManagementException.ThrowWithException(ManagementStatus.errorCode)

at System.Management.ManagementObject.Get()

at PhotonControl.Helper.ProcessInfo..ctor(Process process)

at PhotonControl.Helper.PhotonHandler.GetActiveProcesses(Int 32& serviceCount, Int32& appCount, Int64& memory)

When I go to Manage->Services and Applications->WMI Control->Properties, I can see following dialog:

Failed to initialize all required WMI classes.

Win32_Processor: WMI: Invalid class

Win32_WMISetting: WMI: Invalid class

Security information: Successful

Win32_OperatingSystem: WMI: Invalid class

I think the PhotonControl Error is caused by this. Is there any way to fix this problem?

PS: I don't have a backup of the WMI.

It also says it is for Windows 10, so I'll move this to the Windows 10 Gaming forum
