Windows 10: ODBC bit 32 on Windows 10 bit 64

Hi, I need some help please. I am using Windows 10 bit 64, I need to run ODBC queries but apparently ODBC runs only on bit 32.


I am computer literate but not much knowledge about how to work around this ODBC.


I was advised to reinstall my Windows 10 64 to a 32, is this advisable?


Your assistance will be appreciated, we are all in lockdown and have to do some reporting using ODBC, our IT guy does not have much knowledge.

ODBC Data Sources (32-bit and 64-bit) seem to be the same

There are two applications under Windows Administrative Tools called ODBC Data Sources (32-bit) and ODBC Data Sources (64-bit). But their shortcuts both point to the same file: %windir%\syswow64\odbcad32.exe. I would expect the 64-bit file to have a name
like odbcad64.exe. Why is the same file used for both 32-bit and 64-bit?

If the system architect is 32 bit, then you can’t install 64 bit version of windows in it. I suggest you to run “winver” by pressing Windows + R, and check the version and bit.

There are some games that you can install it in 32 bit as well.

Windows 10 is the free upgrade for those users who has genuine key for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 , normally it doesn't require activation, it's gets activated automatically, in case if you face an issue with activation the you can get back to
us.
