Windows 10: Office 2010 Updates Offered but Office 2010 Not Installed

Windws 10 x64 is Offering me 4 Office 2010 updates: KB2553347, 4011188, 4011055, 2553338.

The catch is, I don't have Office 2010 installed.

I have been running Office 2016 (via Office 365) since it was released.

Marketplace Version v6.x/v6.5

Hello,

my Windows Mobile v6.5 phone didn't contain the Marketplace Application out-of-the box. To get the Update to Office 2010, I found no other way than to install the downloadable Marketplace Application. However, this one seems to think it is for v6.x only
(not v6.5) and doesn't offer the download of Office 2010.

How can I get the Office 2010 download files?

I used to have Office 2010 Pro and Visio 2003 installed on this machine, but removed both several months ago and installed Office 2016 and Visio 2016 in their place.

I've tried running the Windows Update troubleshooter and resetting the update database but still see these errors.

How do I convince update that I'm not using Office 2010 any more?

I did install the updates and they do not seem to have any effect on Office 2016 Insiders version on my system.

 

You may want to open an Office program > File (Alt/F) > Account (D) > Office updates/Update options (R). Is yours set to update automatically?

 

You often get updates to MS Office components you have not installed as there are shared components to applications and older versions.
I get updates to MS Outlook which has never been installed, it's some common component.
I just install them and it's done.

That is essentially what it says for various scenarios in the reference given by #2.

 

I don't allow automatic update and never will.
Having Office Update rudely interrupt my work once before, it is not something I am prepared to allow.
In my view both Windows 10 and Office should by default, advise the user an update is required, and allow the user to choose when to install it.
I regard forced updates, usually at the worst possible time, as incredibly daft corporate arrogance.

 

Sorry to see you had a bad experience. Been using Office since 2000 Pro. Never had that happen. It broke in the middle of work, but not that. So far as 10, it downloads updates and never installs during active hours set. It also notifies me when there is one to install. Either choose restart now or pause it until ready.
