Office 365 prompt comes up when I try to activate Office 2013

My wife recently got a new Lenovo Yoga laptop, which came with several "bloatware" trial applications, including Office 365 and McAfee security. Before doping anything else, I uninstalled both of these applications. Since she was using Office 2013 on her old system, (which we decommissioned), I installed Office 2013 on the new laptop. Office 2013 is fine for her purposes.

When I tried to activate Office 2013, I could not enter the license code. Instead, I was prompted to subscribe to Office 365. I uninstalled and reinstalled Office 2013, but got the Office 2013 prompt.

I found a web page describing a Microsoft application with "scrub" in the name, which was described as a way to remove Office applications from a system. After I ran scrub, I found that it uninstalled Office 2013. So I installed Office 2013 a third time. This time, there was no prompt from Office 365 and I was able to enter the license code and activate Office 2013.

It sure seems that Microsoft wants to make it very, very hard to use any earlier version of Office.*Devil

They are the same, 365 has less money making schemes, but dumps everything on the cloud.
    365 is online, 2013 is 100% offline.
Also 365 will cost more in the longrun, especially if you dont upgrade for 3 years.

Office 365 prompt comes up when I try to activate Office 2013

    Office 2013 a.k.a Office 365 question

Hi guys, I hope you are doing fine this weekend. I was looking into the upcoming Office 2013 suite and I have a simple question I couldn't find the answer for. Currently a preview of Office 2013 is running in the form of Office 365. Looking at the retail prices for the final versions and the differences between the packages I came to the conclusion that a stand alone edition is quite expensive and limited. Say I need one license for me, one for my parents, one for my girlfriend, anyway. So a free version of Office 365 is available now. As far as I get it, if I sign up for Office 365 Home Premium I get to install it to 5 PCs and it will be active until 60 days after the release date- that's in May, so around June-July I should be able to use the applications. What I am asking is do I need to be constantly on-line in order to use Word? Is office 365 only on the cloud service of Microsoft>? or I could be offline writing my university project? Because it says it saves the documents by default to the cloud>? Does that mean that in order to create a document my mom has to be on-line as well>?
