Windows 10: Office application fails to run after "Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004"

Dear Community / Support team,


It is noticed that my Office application fails to run after performed "Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004" today, one example is Outlook. But somehow OneNote, OneDrive. and ToDo apps can run normally.


EventViewer has logged the Outlook error as shown below :





Faulting application name: OUTLOOK.EXE, version: 16.0.12827.20336, time stamp: 0x5edadc97

Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.19041.329, time stamp: 0xa2224bb6

Exception code: 0xc06d007e

Fault offset: 0x00129862



Then when I clicked Office application icon, it looks suggesting to Install Office









Please help to bring the Office apps back to normal as I use them on daily basis ..

Applications (Microsoft Office) are removed after Windows update.

We can imagine how difficult it could be. We will look into this issue for you. However, in order to get clarity, we will need some more information regarding the issue.

1. When you say "latest update", may I know how the update was initiated?

2. Which built version of Windows 10 is currently running on your system? Please refer

Which version of Windows operating system am I running?

3. Are you facing this issue only with respect to the office applications?

4. May I know the version of Microsoft Office installed on your computer?

We recommend you to follow the steps mentioned to check if Microsoft Office application are showing in Program and feature list.

1. Open Control Panel by searching for it in search bar.

2. Click on Programs and features.

3. Check for Microsoft Office applications in the list.
