    How to bring back the old start menu without any programs on Build 10041 ?

    Below one didn't work..

    ​Right click on the Start Button and select "Run"
    Type "regedit"
    Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Explorer>Advance
    Create a new DWORD (32-bit) value, call it "EnableXamlStartMenu" without the quote marks
    Restart Explorer

    SAME OLD, SAME OLD, START MENU STILL NOT WORKING...DOES ANYBODY HAVE THE SOLUTION????????

    My error message states "Start menu and Cortana aren't working". As a result I'm unable to right click on start as you suggest for step 1 to fix the error. What is the solution for that?

    You are right...there isn't a fix for this problem.....over two different days I have spent 4 and a half hours with technicians who fixed it for a few days but it continues to happen. It is corrupted files and I don't care anymore. I will get win 8.1
    reinstalled as I have had two fixes...no more. It would be helpful if the microsoft techs on this thread and on the microsoft helpdesk would just help us to reinstall 8.1. The trick is not to close down your computer.
