Windows 10: On screen keyboard appears on startup.

BACKGROUND:

I have a new surface pro6 with keyboard cover and a desktop machine.

Both run Win10 pro.

The Surface pro 6 is a replacement since the first one's WIFI system failed.

At some point when setting up the original SP6, I must have clicked something which allowed the onscreen keyboard to appear on startup.

NOW:

The onscreen keyboard now appears on my desktop machine on startup.

In addition, the onscreen keyboard also appeared on first startup (after initial setup) on the replacement SP6.

HOW DO I STOP THE ON SCREEN KEYBOARD FROM APPEARING?

Any help would be appreciated please

At startup virtual keyboard appears

Hi Mark,

This simply means that the on-screen keyboard is enabled. To get rid of this, see the steps below on how to do so.

• Press Windows Key + X > Control Panel >
  Ease of Access > Ease of Access Center.
• Under "Explore all settings", select the option “Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard”.
  
• Uncheck the option “Use On-screen keyboard”.

This has to be the answer you're looking for.

I'm not sure how to do that. Could you list the steps for a noob?

 

Keep onscreen keyboard from displaying at startup

Hi Helene,

I suggest to try the steps below and check if it helps.

• Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete key on the Keyboard.
• Click on More details.
• Go to Startup Tab.
• Right click on Onscreen Keyboard And select
  disable.
