Windows 10: One Drive backup files Question

I reinstall one drive on a new computer recently and I moved back my photo folder from an external hard drive to my picture folder.

As soon as I did that I saw that one drive was uploading all the files in that folder, tried to go in setting and tried to stop the backup of that specific folder but for some reasons the uploading didn't stop.

I had to uninstall OneDrive to make it stop which is unbelievable because I subscribe to Office and have the upgraded version of OneDrive.


One question I had was the photos that had been uploaded on my online OneDrive account , were there moved from my computer to OneDrive folder ? or were there kept on my computer but it was just a copy uploaded online ?

Drive connection for backups

To isolate the issue, kindly answer the following questions:

• Have you tried using only 1 hard drive to backup your files?
• Have you tried to remove the one that has partition and run the backup?
• Have you tried updating all the drivers on your PC?
• What other troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
• Which version of Windows are you using?

Using network hard drive for backup

It depends what sort of backup you want to do. If you're happy just backing up regular files, then there are a bazillion (really, that many!) different bits of freeware to do that. There is a good list here:

and pretty much all of them can do network backups. Some even have fancy options like encryption. Really, the most useful thing is just being able to schedule them and know they ran OK.

You may also want to make a system image backup too, and you'll find that software in the very same list.

I don't have Windows 8 as yet, so I'm afraid I can't suggest any for that platform. Personally, I use Clonezilla for image backups.

 

one drive backup

To summarize, I were facing issues with the backup files in OneDrive after resetting the PC and Microsoft technical have logged in to the account and they have checked and there were no files present in one drive.

the computer is long time didn't use, when I opened the "words", it still can see lot of files in recently used are linked with "onedriver/....", but when try to open, it shows the files is be moved or deleted?

How I can get the files back? Really Appreciated.

When I tried to post question as the Microsoft technical suggested to a "onedrive", it shows the folum is been locked.
