  1. One weird thing happen with my laptop. I am curious to know why

My Laptop battery got damaged completely. It is not working with out A/C input. To keep it in another way If I remove A/C Input If I remove external power Laptop getting shutdown. So I brought new battery and replaced It with old one. After that every thing went good. I just thought to replace my new battery with Old one to cross check once. I performed following steps

I shutdown my system and removed my new battery and replaced It with my old one. As I said my old battery does not work with out A/C Input I plugged In external power and switched on laptop. Now WITH OUT BOOTING my system came In to logon screen. Is it possible?

I am using Dell Inspiron 5558 laptop and my OS is windows 10.

so I went and checked In logs. I can see the following.

Information 2/10/2020 18:44 Microsoft-Windows-Winlogon 7002 -1102 User Logoff Notification for Customer Experience Improvement Program

    Information 2/10/2020 18:44 Win32k 267 None Touch/Touchpad Hardware Quality Assurance verification succeeded.

Information 2/10/2020 18:44 Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power 187 -243 User-mode process attempted to change the system state by calling SetSuspendState or SetSystemPowerState APIs.

    Information 2/10/2020 18:44 Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power 42 -64 "The system is entering sleep.

    Sleep Reason: Application API"

    Information 2/10/2020 18:44 Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power 107 -102 The system has resumed from sleep.

    Information 2/10/2020 18:46 Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-General 1 -5 "The system time has changed to ‎2020‎-‎02‎-‎10T13:16:02.500000000Z from ‎2020‎-‎02‎-‎10T13:14:47.577189600Z.

Change Reason: System time synchronized with the hardware clock. Process: '' PID 4."

    Information 2/10/2020 18:46 Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power 105 -100 Power source change.

As per what I see In logs system went to sleep. so Think that instead of shutdown I clicked on sleep. Even then when I remove the battery system should shutdown, But I cant see It In logs.

Can any one explain above behavior.

    :)

  2. Weird thing happening to my windows 10.

    Hi Marcel,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

We are sorry to know that you have issues like that.

Please answer these questions and provide more clarity on the issues.

What is the make and model of your system?

Method 1 I suggest you to set the system in Clean Boot and check if it helps.

To disable all non-Microsoft services consult the article called Clean Boot.

    Follow: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

Note: After troubleshooting, refer to this section "How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting".

Method 2 If the issues persist, please run DISM and SFC

DISM: It detects incorrect manifests, cabinets or registry data, it may replace the incorrect data with corrected version available. Follow the steps.

    1. Press Windows key + X.

    2. Click command prompt (Run as administrator).

    3. In the Administrator: Command Prompt window, type the following commands. Press Enter key after each command:

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

SFC: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system file.

    Follow the steps

    a. Press “Windows Key + Q” to open Charms Bar.

    b. Type “cmd” without quotes in the search box.

    c. On the left pane, right click on the “cmd” option and select “Run as Administrator”.

    d. Type ‘sfc /scannow’ without quotes and hit enter.

    Method 3

Step 1 If the issues persist, I suggest you to install the latest driver from the manufacture’s website.

Follow these step to install drivers.

    Press Windows key + X

    Click Device Manager

Once device manager is open, select the device, right click it and click Update Driver Software

This will launch the update driver software wizard, which presents two options.

    • Search automatically for updated driver software - its possible Windows might have the driver software if you have not checked it yet, if its taking too long, then the next option is usually best.
    • Browse my computer for driver software - if there is a compatible driver and you already have the driver files, then all you need to do is point to it and Windows automatically install it for you.
      • Click Next and wait while the wizard completes the installation.
Step2 If there are no driver that supports Windows 10, installing the latest possible driver in compatibility mode.

Follow these steps to install the driver in compatibility mode.

    • Download the driver from the manufacturer’s website and save it on your local disk.
    • Right click on the setup file of the driver and select “Properties”.
    • Select “Compatibility” Tab.
    • Place a check mark next to “Run this program in Compatibility mode” and select operating system from the drop down list.
    • Let the driver install and then check the functionality.
Hope this answers your question. If you have any further queries please contact us, we are happy to assist you.

    laptop doesnt boot automatically

    This is what happened.

    1. Did a repair install and later disabled hibertnate in CMD.
    2. Enabled legacy option ROM in BIOS.
    3. After a few times startup ( i used the system in such mode for 5 days), changed boot option back to default.
    4. Vola!! It boots automatically to win10 without any keypress. Tested it with many starts to confirm the same.
    5. Re-enabled hibernate option using CMD and later selected Fast Startup.
    6. System booted normally, without the need for any keypress.

I do not know exactly whether such steps resolved the problem or what else happened, hence cannot suggest above steps.

Many thanks to all members who helped to troubleshoot problems.
