    OneDrive setup for backups

On Win10, I just configured OneDrive for the first time. It was set up to backup my Desktop, Document and Pictures and to sync them all. What I understood from the instructions is that this means the files will remain on the local PC and be backed up in the cloud. What appears to have happened is that although the files do remain on the local PC, they have been moved from the original location, i.e. c:\users\Dave\Documents, to c:\users\Dave\OneDrive\Documents, etc.

After the initial setup of OneDrive and the completion of the first sync, at least two of my applications failed to work as before. On investigation, I found that c:\users\Dave\Documents, which contained files that my applications require, was empty. I copied all my files from OneDrive back to their original locations and now my applications work as expected.

However, several days later, I see that some data files on OneDrive are not current. In other words, the backup on OneDrive is stale. Obviously syncing is not occurring between files in c:\users\Dave\Documents and the cloud? I understand that syncing is occurring between c:\users\Dave\OneDrive\Documents and the cloud, but the problem is that my applications expect the files to be in c:\users\Dave\Documents. What have I done wrong, and how can I fix this? Re-configuring my apps to store their data files in a non-default location is not an option.

    Thank you.

    :)

W10 Mobile Lumia 830 Backup Not Being Saved to OneDrive

    Thanks Chari San,

I understand I can not see what is contained in the backup stored on OneDrive, but I should see them listed. In my case there is not one being stored at all even though the phone reports it has backed up. See screenshots from OneDrive from my phone logged
into the same account the phone is and the backup settings page above. Without the backup on OneDrive my restored phone will lose at least call history, start screen setup and installed app list from what I have found.

Step #2 is not displayed on the new phone. (How can it restore a backup that is not on OneDrive at all). It skips over that step and I get a default install on the new phone without my call history, start page or app history. I'm not sure what else I
might be missing but for sure at least those 3 items do not come across.

How do I resolve this issue? Suggestions?

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

    OneDrive setup for backups

Is it possible to easily setup Raid-1 on this system ?

Get the six core CPU's I listed, at 3.3Ghz per core they will more than handle any calculations you throw at them for years to come, and with matching RAM in tri channel you will have a very strong setup.

My only other suggestion is a full RAID card like the one I listed with SSD's (in RAID 1)for the OS and programs, and then a RAID 5 array for backup and any large files on the board with a offsite final backup
