Windows 10: Onedrive stole my files then disappeared

Hi. I stupidly installed onedrive to facilitate moving files from my old win 10 laptop to to a new win 11 one. Windows backup advised me to do so. All of my documents, downloads, music and pictures were synched to onedrive. When I followed instructions to download all files back to my computer, the process stalled. I restarted the laptop and was then unable to get back in to my onedrive account it said there was no account under my email. It would run and start synching again but settings were grayed out and I couldn't access them. I can still sign in to onedrive.live. I did a system restore

Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

 

OneDrive Personal has disappeared from File Explorer

I have a OneDrive Personal Account. This used to be listed in the list of files and folders in File Explorer. It still is on my HP desktop running W11, but has disappeared from my W10 HP laptop. I've tried the 'Restore your OneDrive' instructions, but they don't seem to relate to my particular problem, i.e., they seem to be to restore deleted files, etc, not to make OneDrive appear in the folder list in FE.

[I also have a Office 365 OneDrive from work. That is still listed ok.]

 

Onedrive-I never wanted it and it stole my files

Hi, read through the article, but what about getting back the files? I had unlinked and uninstalled on my laptop because onedrive suddenly started dropping files and folders there that I did not want. But what about my desktop? When I found nearly every file had been moved off I am now downloading them back, but getting constant errors and files to large. They weren't to large when they stole them. Sorry, I have to stop, decades of work missing.

I just want my files back.
