OneDrive won't let me sync to my external drive

I'm using Office 365 and the OneDrive storage that comes with my subscription.

This problem appeared after I replaced my old computer that ran Win7 with a new computer than runs Win10. In other words I'm using a clean install of Win10.

On my old Win7 computer my 1tb 365 OneDrive was synced with a folder on my 4tb external USB drive.

Now I want to re-establish that sync with my new Win10 computer. I want the same 1tb of 365 OneDrive storage to sync to the same folder on my 4tb external hard drive. It's not working.

When I try to configure OneDrive to sync to that folder on my external hard drive, I get a pop-up warning with an exclamation mark in a yellow triangle and the message: "You can't open this location using this program. Please try a different location."

I don't know if it's relevant, but OneDrive seems to be merging my 5gb of free personal OneDrive storage with my 1tb of 365 storage. I read that there has been a lot of confusion caused by these two types of OneDrive getting tangled with each other, and I don't know if that's related to my problem. I don't see any option to separate them.

    :)

Onedrive sync 1 folder on external drive

    Hey all,

I installed "Onedrive Backup" on my server. It auto backups my whole server to my Onedrive account. Now I would like to sync just that 1 folder from my Onedrive to an external drive on my PC. Is that possible?

  3. External drive

    Hi Richard,

There are several factors that can cause your external drive to not read DVDs even though the system is recognizing the device. This could be caused by a driver that needs to updated or corrupted files. For us to resolve your concern, kindly answer the questions
    below:

    • Just to confirm, the device that is not working properly is a external DVD optical drive?
    • Were there any recent changes or updates installed on your computer?
    • Have you tried to plug the external drive to a different port on your computer?

As a initial recommendation, we suggest that your run the built in troubleshooter in Windows 10. Kindly refer to the steps below:

    • Type “Troubleshooting” in the Search bar and press Enter.
    • Click on “View All” in the top left corner.
    • This will display the list of troubleshooters which are built-in in the computer. You can click on
Hardware and Devices from the list and you can run the troubleshooter.

This will check for common errors that affect hardware on your computer and attempts to correct them.

We look forward to your response after completing the steps.
