  1. OneDrive

    Hi

I think I may have at least three OneDrive accounts:
    1. One was set up when I set up my computer. It may predate Windows 10. I do not know the password. I had a few guesses but was locked out due to too many attempts.
    2. I do not know when the second was set up. But I am able to open it by educated guesswork.
    3. The third was opened recently. I am not totally sure how or why. In part Microsoft is to blame because I was blundering around in the mental fog caused by attempting to resolve failure of the 'Require password to wake' command. In fact this now seems to have been a Microsoft fault resolved by updates of 12 Aug 20. This one incorporates the address of a Hotmail account not my main email.
I tried to close number a/c no.3. But I was warned this would result in losing my Hotmail account. One Drive is of no interest to me anyway, I use only basic functions; email not microsoft except for secondary Hotmail as above , Word, Excel, search not via Microsoft, Browser not Microsoft. My questions:
    1. How do I find out how many OneDrive accounts I have?
    2. Do I need a OneDrive account at all?
    3. If I closed a/c no.3 the one that incorporates my Hotmail address would one of the other two be sufficient to keep my Hotmail account open?
    4. How do I disassociate my Hotmail account from OneDrive
    5. I am 'Administrator'. Which of the three controls my computer settings for privacy etc. Or does it not matter?
    6. If having more than one account will cause problems how do I get rid of the others?
    7. How do I ensure the content of any OneDrive account I may have is deleted?
    8. Is OneDrive relevant anyway or was the set up and control of what happens via Dell, the manufacturer?
    9. Is having three or more accounts in fact a problem?
    10. If it is a problem what should I do?
Rather a long list I am afraid but blame Microsoft for this. I had never heard of OneDrive, Microsoft installed it without asking, I did not ask for it and I do not want it.

    Thanks.

    Regards

    :)

  2. Windows 10 - OneDrive

Right click on the app and one of the properties has an option to not automatically start it. Uncheck, restart the computer, and it should stop. If you want to go another step further, find the OneDrive app in the start menu, right click on it and uninstall.

If that is still insufficient, there is a batch uninstaller for OneDrive available online. I can copy the code here if you need it.

OneDrive folder icon changed to plain

    Hi,

    Thank you for replying.

I understand your concern and suggest you to Unlink OneDrive and run OneDrive setup
again and check. Here is the steps:

    • Right-click the white OneDrive cloud icon in the notification area, at the far right of the taskbar.

      OneDrive ce960e20-2ea4-4298-8ec8-8399b1b20e20.png

(You might need to click the Show hidden icons arrow next to the notification area to see the
      OneDrive icon.)

    • Click Settings, and then click Unlink.

    • Follow the steps in the Welcome to OneDrive wizard to set up OneDrive.
Do notify us if the issue still persists and we'll be glad to help.
