Windows 10: OneNote for Windows 10 shortcut fails

i pinned the OneNote for Windows 10 app to the TaskBar.

when i click on the shortcut, it opens the app. if i click the shortcut repeatedly, the app minimizes then maximizes as it should.

if i minimize the app and go onto other tasks, when i click on the shortcut to maximize the app, nothing happens.

if i right-click the shortcut and select "OneNote for Windows 10", the first instance of the app reopens with a second instance of the app overlaid.

Interesting. I followed your path and OneNote is not on my taskbar User Pinned list either.

Maybe you are getting to the bottom of this when you say you can't remove.

My OneNote was replaced by this Window 10 app. I don't actually recall doing this. It removed the old Onenote.

In my program list it is called OneNote for Windows 10.

I wonder if yours is getting confused.

Under default apps, by protocol, is OneNote for Windows 10 the only default app.

Mine is not a live tile. What do you see in the way of a live tile in taskbar.

Yours is different than mine. Even when I right click the screen is different.





and I'm definitely running same app, maybe not same version.

your shortcut is labeled OneNote, not OneNote for Windows 10.
how on earth does it open the app?

PS i can't uninstall OneNote (Office 16) as it's part of a 365 package i download from the university
